Tommy Brown and the County Line Grass “Leaving This Town” Label: RANDM Records Joseph Reviewed 12/1/14 Classic traditional bluegrass out of Kentucky, sounding like 1950s Stanley Brothers. Really excellent stuff. 1 – (2:18) Fort Worth Jailhouse* Mid, classic bluegrass sound. 2 – (2:34) Tonight I’ve Got Kentucky On My Mind* Fine song of longing, home. 3 – (1:54) Half Moon Bay* Good but short mid-tempo instrumental. 4 – (2:40) Lonesome Without You* Good straight bluegrass love lament. 5 – (2:55) I’ll Never Take No For An Answer* Tommy channeling Ralph Stanley here! 6 – (2:33) Leaving This Town Little Darlin’* Up-tempo weeper, title says it all. 7 – (3:24) You’re Gonna Miss Me Decent, goes on a little too long. 8 – (3:26) A Dark Road Is A Hard Road To Travel Another mid ballad, OK. 9 – (3:42) No One Like You* Fine slow heartbreaker, lovely harmony vocals. 10 – (2:46) I’ll Soon Be There* Another traditional-sounding cut, fine. 11 – (3:54) Memories Of Home* Great ¾ time song of home, family, longing. 12 – (2:07) My Bible Tells Me* Excellent 4-part harmony on this spiritual. 13 – (2:52) Let Them Know I’m From Virginia* Punchy bluegrass stomp, nice! | ||
