Mary J Blige is back!! And she sounds better than ever. This record was a collaboration with Disclosure, Sam Smith, Jimmy Napes, Naughty Boy and several others. It really is fantastic. Listen and enjoy! FCC CLEAN! Favorites: 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12 1. (3:23) Therapy - This one showcases her raspy voice and is upbeat and playful. 2. (3:59) Doubt - Great Mary J. ballad. Woman has an indisputably amazing voice. Ends with some words from Sam Smith. 3. (3:27) Not Loving You - Piano and Mary J. No complaints here, but seems kind of like a song you would hear in a musical, so not my favorite as far as radio play goes. 4. (3:24) When You're Gone - This is one of my favorites, acoustic guitar, urgent vocals. Kind of cliche but still great. 5. (3:49) Right Now - This brings the album into a completely different space with electronic backing and it is kind of great, reminds me of old Mary J. 6. (4:26) My Loving - We have made it back to the land of ballads. This could be a Whitney song. 7. (3:36) Long Hard Look - Rules. Super soulful, great beats and effects. Favorite for sure. 8. (4:12) Whole Damn Year - Piano and drum machine, another beautifully soulful track. She is bring R&B back to life. 9. (4:39) Nobody But You - Another more electronic track, it is great too. 10. (3:07) Pick Me Up - Super cool horn sample, this one got super stuck in my head. 11. (4:08) Follow (Mary J Blige & Disclosure) - Disclosure brings us another awesome beat. It really is incredible how great they sound together. 12. (3:28) Worth My Time - Mary and a grand piano close out the album. This track grows on me every time I hear it. | ||
