Your Imaginary Friend

1968 gem of mastermind behind Soft Machine: epic London psyche prog jazz rock. Uncovered material, 4 tracks that vary from rockin romps to way abstract. These guys were fusing jazz and rock/psyche in such advanced forms, a scene birthing John McLaughlin and likely Miles Davis' bitches brew epiphany/transformation. Importance of this stuff cannot be overestimated. Wyatt was the drummer. The band and members did many side projects, notably Matching Mole. Wyatt became paraplegic in an accident but this never slowed his production, switching to guitar and becoming a prolific singer songwriter into the Rough Trade post punk London era and to this day. An amazing force. Check out this brilliant gem from his very early Soft Machine years.

1) (5:01) mellow ballady with minor tone, heavy organ led
2)* (18:20) starts as one of their famous piano led poppier songs then goes full drum solo with abstract layers of voice regarding the alphabet, then more seemingly free association, some in Spanish, very out there
3)* (3:03) a bouncy psyche rocking romp, very Syd Barrett
4) (20:37) lovely long version of probably his/their most beautiful song, prototypical searing organ work, worth every second
