San Kazakgascar’s latest recording is a 7-inch single with two tracks, First Nation Spy on side A and Last Man Standing on side B. The Sacramento band’s interest in combining Middle Eastern sounds with psychedelia and spazzcore rock continues on this new record. The sound, however, has taken more of a darker identity with limited chords, repetitive beats, and haunting melodies.

RIYL: Tinariwen, Swimming in Bengal, Ceramic Dog, Painted Caves, and, The John Lurie National Orchestra.

Recommended Tracks: 1 and 2

SIDE A
1. (3:09) **First Nation Spy – Instrumental track characterized by its upbeat rhythm. Well-crafted piece of music with very interesting guitar and clarinet parts. Middle Eastern influences everywhere.

SIDE B
2. (4:20) **Last Man Standing – Conspicuous track with a continuous clarinet melody built around whirring guitars, chanted vocals, and culminating with a short spoken word piece about cockroaches.
