Mass Meowcore.
Not the Best Coast of 'Crazy For You', but...
so fucking what: it's still good. Great even.
The blanding is not as detrimental as it was on, oh, let's say The Dum Dum's; it just works as a great pop album. Doesn't matter if they're getting bigger and badder (MTV, Letterman, viral on the internet, blah blah who fucking cares blah blah) because it's still just so damn good! Too bad this is not the number one album in the country!...the world!... the uni-
I digress. And life is unfair.
The album was well worth waiting for, and, after 'Crazy For You' and the singles before that, this is the next best thing.
It's a logical step from the underrated 'Fade Away' mini-lp (which could easily be outtakes from this); and way better than the kinda-sorta-when you really get down it let down of 'The Only Place' (slow mid is not Best Coast's forte). Best Coast is back at their best:
mid fast. poppy. upbeat. keep it simple. samey songs. know when to end the song...and this review...maybe I'm gushing so much because I really wasn't expecting much. but every track is great! No: this is not the lo-fi darlings of 2010. Yes: this is polished studio heavy cusp of stardom, Mass Meowcore.
