Debut record from LA based indie-pop duo HOLYCHILD. Synth-pop, indie-pop…you know the drill. RIYL: Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head, Sleigh Bells, Annie, and Purity Ring. FCC Track 7 Recommended Tracks: 1, 3, 4, 9, 10, 12 1. (3:20) Barbie Nation - Even poppier than Sleigh Bells, same synthetic sound that will blow out your speakers. I kind of dig this Brat Pop :) 2. (3:16) Nasty Girls - This is a Fannypack song…could be a cheerleading routine, a little too much for me, but it certainly doesn't lack attitude. 3. (2:49) Happy With Me - Dub influence, island pop, staccato punctuation, drum driven. 4. (3:13) Tell Me How It Is - Let the bass drop!!! Reminds me a little of NPSH (if you don't know who that is it doesn't matter). But this hook is so good!! 5. (3:00) Running Behind - This one is a little too annoying, has potential but is a little too much of a parade march song. 6. (3:10) Money All Around - Trappy, fun, kind of awesome. 7. FCC (3:33) Monumental Glow - Super cool song, bummed you cant play it. 8. (2:44) Plastered Smile - Super bubbly and fun, snare driven. 9. (2:54) Best Friends - A little slower paced, feels more Purity Ring-esq 10. (3:06) Diamonds On the Rebound - Super good, feels more like Sleigh Bells again, maybe a little like Annie, Synth-Pop all the way. 11. (2:57) Regret You - This one bores me a bit, skip-able. 12. (3:14) U Make Me Sick - Kind of cool, a little funky, more awesome attitude. | ||
