Calling this a “various artists” compilation is a marketing gimmick: this is basically the life’s work of a heroin-addicted deadbeat with a penchant for multitrack cassette home recording, named Jamie Paul Lamb. (It’s not clear that any of the “bands” on this record ever performed live.) In terms of song structure, the 33 songs here could be reduced to three: mid-tempo punk (Type 1), fastish punk (Type 2), and garage rock with organ (Type 3). There is some variation in the vocals, as it would appear that whenever Lamb coerced a friend into recording vocals one drunken evening, a new “band” was born. Repetitive, puerile, and virulently misogynist, this is loser music for losers who want to lose in private. Moreover, this record is proof of the creative and mental damage long-term drug addiction can bring. But despite himself, Jamie produced a handful of catchy tracks.
