Album Review
DJ Away

First-rate ambient drone from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In line with Pacione's other work, Dobranoc (Polish for “good night”) is warm, expansive, hypnotic, and slightly haunted. There are multiple pieces on each side, but they blur together to form side-long compositions. No words, no FCCs.

1. (21:50)—Starts soft, windy, dissonant—reminiscent of Pacione's fantastic album Sisyphus. Deep, dark tones and field recordings enter four minutes in. Grows slowly in intensity as the higher tones and field recordings become more prominent.
2. (21:42)—Starts suddenly with humming, insistent machine sounds (probably recordings of shortwave radio). Transitions to calm, warm drone around -13:00, and drifts peacefully for the remainder.
