This is the first full length record since the reunion of London rockers The Libertines,
fronted by Pete Doherty (formerly of Babyshambles). They are one of my all time
favorite bands, and this record is super good. All of those great riffs, great melodies,
great lyrics, I am pumped to listen to this over and over again. RIYL: Babyshambles,
Carl Barât, The Strokes, The Cribs.
FCCs: 1, 2, 6
Favorite Tracks: **3**, **4**, 8
1. FCC Fuck (3:36) Barbarians - I love that they still sound the same, so happy they only broke up for pretend :) Dark beginning, builds into an awesome melodic chorus.
2. FCC Fucking (2:59) Gunga Din - Another great melody, cant play it on the air but it is awesome.
3. **(3:07) Fame and Fortune - Mid-tempo, perhaps my favorite riff, almost a psych vibe but not quite, love love love, “monkey, monkey, monkey”.
4. **(4:27) Anthem for Doomed Youth - This is my new “I no longer hear the music” track from them, acoustic guitar, cutesy sounding pop track with deeper meaning.
5. (4:19) You’re My Waterloo - Piano driven, downtempo, builds slightly about a minute in.
6. FCC FUCK (4:07) Belly of the Beast - Uptempo, grittier, another great track but you cant play it.
7. (4:59) Iceman - Sounds of the ocean, acoustic guitar, great story, harmonies, drums build in later.
8. *(3:29) Heart of the Matter - Love this one, more of the same, but one of my favorites.
9. (2:40) Fury of Chonburi - Short, punchy, punky.
10. (3:23) The Milkman's Horse - Dark, heavy, another great track.
11. (3:12) Glasgow Coma Scale Blues - Bluesy, downtempo, piano backing, sound of an old film reel.
12. (5:14) Dead for Love - Mid tempo, more of the same, another solid track.
