Ethnically Greek violinist Elektra Kurtis grew up in Poland and was educated in Finland; she plays her own original compositions with her quintet; unusual, lively with lots of disparate parts No FCC's 1-(4:03) Triton – lively, jazz-like; lots of violin riffs backed by bass *2-(4:05) Hasaposerviko – sounds Middle Eastern modal; moves up and down scales; Greek dance rhythms **3-(4:21) Red Apple – violins play duets with percussion, Polish dance theme, nice little reprise at end *4-(5:37) 334 – “chromatic, angular play on rhythms”;a little choppy, dissonant, but interesting 5-(2:46) Trebble Duo Nr.
