RD Burman was an iconic Indian film music composer and singer. This talented musician was the son of a famous music director SD Burman. Music director is how music composers are described in the Indian film industry.
At one point in the early 1970s,father and son produced some of the best songs in Hindi (Bollywood) film industry. RD was & continues to be an inspiration for lot of the younger musicians in Bollywood.
RD worked mainly in Bollywood, but composed music for other regional films in India. RD brought world music influences, especially Latin sounds into Bollywood music. Along with his wife, the versatile singer Asha Bhosle,he introduced new sounds and new ways of creating music into the Indian film industry.
Save for a couple of songs, most songs work in this album. Try 1,2,3,6,7,10,11 or 13.
1. Trippy song sung by RD from the film Kitaab.
2. Mehabooba is one of RD’s hallmark songs that he sang & composed music.It’s inspired by the Greek musician
Demis Rousseau’s music.
3. 1-2-Chacha is an over-the-top & fun song by Usha Uthap from the film Shalimar. Play this one loud.
4. RD experimenting with some sort of funk sounds that does not work. Rare instance of a song not working.
5. From the film Kasme Vade. Kishore Kumar paying tribute to his music guru KL Saigal. Ok-ish song.
6. From the film Samadhi comes this hit song Bangle Ke Peeche by Lata Mangeshskar.
