Southern Italian folk music (Salento) with a big funky beat behind it & all ready for a new audience. Modern influences mixed with the traditional abound on this release. Classed as “Urban new-folk” Splendid collection of instruments on display here, at times it’s Balkan, then Middle Eastern, Klezer, Post Punk, it goes on – All you basic ingredients for a rollicking good time. Italian bagpipes must be ripe for a drone treatment. Nice release, with elements of outstanding musical arrangement. Although, some tracks do have a lot going on. Can’t wait to see them live. Great: 1,4,5

Similar: Crystal Fighters, Gogol Bordello, Manu Chao, Furyo (sort of)
No FCC’s (No English lyrics)

1) Psychedelic Trance Tarantella (4.52) Experimental elements blending with the traditional, leading to an almighty fast paced festive sound.
2) This Way (5.10) Black Cat Whit Cat–esque opening then it gets busy.
3) La Sule (4.56) Mid paced ballad with a rap.
4) Moi! (5.28) Jolly & very bouncy.
5) Mary Di Salem (4.39) Infectious beat with singing / sampled voices.
6) Due Mari (feat; Ludovico Einaudi) (4.20) Gains momentum with the harmonizing. Piano working hard.
7) Kore (3.59) Upbeat folkiness with an extra zip to it. Take your partners…. in a grand baroque style ballroom.
8) II Giardino (5.03) As above, picks up pace towards the end & fades.
9) Canto Degli Emigranti (3.43) Electronica feel which flows into a fast paced sing a long. Pulses & blips continue in the background.
10) La Rivolta dell”Arneo (3.36) Music bounces along nicely-needs a few listens.
11) Musa / Musa Reprise (4.45) Instrumental finale. Rousing crowd pleaser.
