– General Description:
Joseph Valentino is known for his printmaking, life drawing and print design. He also records and performs music under the moniker Neglect (soundcloud.com/neglectsound). “Western Romance Novels” was recorded and produced over the span of two years in Portland, OR (2013-2015). With slow-altering ostinati (continually repeated musical phrases) as themes for each track combined with looping strings and soothing tones and textures – you can listen for the covered wagons arriving and the sands shifting in the high desert; good for writing code and relaxing; also good for things like painting; you can hear whatever old west story you’d like in this tumbleweed minimalistic music full of warm electronic drone. Although it’s considered ambient music it has more depth than most in that category. It is unfortunate that the artist and label do not provide more information about his process and selection of sounds.
