Music For String Quartet, Piano And Celeste

A lovely release from “Teenage Fanclub’s” Francis Mcdonald. Easy on the ears, especially for those not too interested in chamber music. Featuring violin, viola & cello alongside the piano, all are slow, unhurried & perfect to unwind too. Recorded at Mogwai’s “Castle of Doom” studio in Glasgow.
Like: Tori Amos, Anni Hogan (Mambas) All worth playing-Loving: 3, 5, 10
No FCC’s (All instrumentals)
1) Playful (3.50) Lively melody with aching strings to match.
2) 20 Sep (4.55) Evokes images of a landscape bathed in sunshine.
3) January Waltz (1.52) Slow, sensual & much too short.
4) At A Remove (2.52) Another delicate approach. Early fade.
5) Ghent (2.24) Cello takes centre stage. Haunting.
6) 3 4 5 (6.03) Similar to previous.
7) Antoine Duhamel (1.46). Stark & Unhurried.
8) Triet For David Hockney (1.46) A more energetic feel.
9) September Weekend (4.23) In keeping with the prior tracks. Ends early.
10) Sunday 1 (4.50) Was waiting for Marc Almond to start singing at any moment. Beautiful indeed.
11) 17 Days (6.19) Slightly more windswept & dramatic. Ends 12 seconds early
