Naturalistic dream pop with electronic flourishes, killer experimenting with beats, soprano vocals. One of my very favorite bands out there. No FCCs detected. 1. (4:36) * Companion—Soaring soprano, strings, minimal and vocal-driven. More synth and electronic textures two minutes in. 2. (3:26) * Joni—Vaguely house? Dubby beat, chaotic, emotive, weird. Wasn’t feeling it at first but the song all comes together with fifty seconds left. 3. (2:56) *** Trophies for Paradox—Like BoC with vocals. Contemplative, understated, quavering. 4. (7:06) ***** Sweet World—Braids first started playing this track live in the fall of 2013. It’s cosmic, restless, absolutely beautiful. Golden chime and synthesizer, airy, ethereal. “Don’t take back what you said.” Rolling drums halfway in and the melancholy swells. Gets you every time! | ||
