The Bosman Twins / When Lions Roar Label: Flatted Five Tom McCarter Reviewed 2016-08-02 Tom McCarter The Bosworth Brothers When Lions Roar Great jazz outing more reminiscent of CTI in the ‘70s than Blue Note in the ‘60s. The brothers excel on sax and flute and they have a sextet with very competent players, including trumpet, guitar, bass, and drums. Genre: Jazz FCCs: none If you like: Stanley Turrentine, Hubert Laws, Freddie Hubbard, George Benson (before Breezin’) Favorite tracks: Manifestation, Pootie, Many Moons, Everything Must Change 1. Full bop romp 2. Uptempo jam – big brassy horns with fabulous trumpet solo 3. Guitar opens> uptempo swing 4. Guitar opens> uptempo flute & piano duet 5. Midtempo jam with flute/sax/piano 6. Gorgeous flute & piano duet 7. Guitar opening> uptempo dual sax jam 8. Spoken word with accompaniment 9. Big horns> nice piano solo 10.
