SOUL JAZZ The three Clayton brothers (on piano, saxophone & flute, and bass) become a quartet with Obed Calvaire on drums, and are here joined by guest trumpeter, the great Terell Stafford. All instrumental. No FCC issues. 1 ** Mid-fast. Very swingin’ number. Trumpet & sax solos. Steady rhythm. (5:18) 2 Mixed tempo. Multiple different phases. Loses its way. (11:29) 3 * Mid-slow. Gritty & bluesy. Melody on trumpet. For B.B.King? (9:17) 4 Very slow. Dreamy tone poem on flute & piano with the slightest drums. (5:58) 5 * Mid-slow. Easy going but quite emotional.
