Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2016-12-12
Thee Oh Godhead Sees continue with their prolific releases with one that veers from what's tended to be a somewhat formulaic recipe of late with six songs that capture, emulate late 60's, early 70's psyche and prog. Few if any vocals, longer improvs replete with cool strange noises. Not as much pedal to the metal garage rockin this time around. Decidedly prog flourishes. Maybe they're resting up for the next round of sheer heart attack good rockin tonight. Set the controls for the heart of your next playlist.

> 1) (5:59) improv free jazzy space intro for a min or two, then midpaced 70's psych rock feel, vocs come later, buried 2) (3:21) very early Pink Floyd riffing, no drums but big bass and melotron sounding synth, Barrett delivered vocs, expecting gnomes and bikes at any second 3) (6:36) prog feel, more king crimson than Floyd, a flute sound, no vocs 4) (2:45) kinda chill and groovy, sexy swingy beat, bass chords and 12 string electric guitar 5)* (3:04) fuzzy mid paced plod rock, no vocs 6) (8:03) prog tone returns, pensive w searing sixties guitar, another instrumental
