Magic Car, “Meteorites” Label: Tiny Dog Records Reviewed by: Kim Walter, November 2016 It’s hard to believe that this group is from England, because they really epitomize what Americana is all about. The songs are all varied and unique, and they all represent a different aspect of American culture. My faves: 3, 5, 6, 10, 11 1. slow/med- heartwarming, comfortable sounding 2. slow/med- almost Hawaiian vibe, but with mandolin in this fun spiritual 3. slow/med- very American theme, almost canon type repetition 4. med- STATIC ON RECORDING 5. slow- beautiful voice, nice nature imagery, accordion accents 6. slow- album namesake, nice vocal harmonies, both male and female leads 7. slow- ballad about the fallen King of Pool, sad 8. slow- breathy love song with a surf music ballad vibe 9. slow- soulful ballad reminiscent of 60’s 10. med- story with interesting blues acoustic tune 11. med- fun song with male lead- great trombone highlights 12. slow- starts with background noise, good pub memorial | ||
