The Miami Dolphins’ latest recording is an extended play titled Perlite. The Minneapolis quartet continues to construct a deranged art-punk/no wave sound not suitable for everyone. Songs remain brief and always unexpectedly constructed - slow-fast tensions, vocals at different ranges, weird sound effects, etc. Beth Bambery’s distinctive whispery vocals are still as psychotic and incoherent as ever. The Miami Dolphins will release a new full-length album this spring. Hope they tour the West Coast.

Recommended tracks: 1, 2, 3, 4

1. (2:05) **Quail Birth – Quiet start then at second :18 absolute rock insanity. Great tension.
2. (1:53) *Disconnected – Another art-punk storm driven by guitar frenzy, loud beats and vocals at different rages. Totally playable.
3. (2:15) **Piling – No wave semi-spoken word exercise. Male/female vocals. Impressive.
4. (2:42) *Scarlette – Intense crooner punker. Vocals all over the range. Not for everyone.
5. (2:22) +++ – Calm guitar-driven instrumental. Strumming here, strumming there. At :38 it gets really quiet, slowly picking up again at :44. Guitar strumming and dubbing effects until the end. Song ends at 2:05.
