– General Description: ‘Primo’ is the first solo project of Matteo Vallicelli (Mah-TEH-oh Vah-lee-CHEH-lee), an Italian drummer and composer best known for his work in Italian punk and post-punk bands. In 2013, Vallicelli relocated to Berlin and began experimenting with synthesizers and drum machines and recording sounds onto computer and cassette tapes.

In interviews, Vallicelli explains that these minimalistic electronic compositions were created through a process of subtraction from years of gathering sounds. Though he is primarily a drummer, most of these songs (which have an 80s atmosphere and huge arpeggios) have no traces of drums or percussive elements.

All tracks have a fuzzy quality to them.

– Track Reviews:
1. (2:16) Frammenti - ‘Scraps’; fuzzy long arpeggiations over bass chord arpeggios
2. (4:27) Nuova Notte - ‘New Night’; industrial sounding fuzzy waves
3. (2:58) Il Balletto Delle Stelle - ‘The Ballet Of Stars’; twirling feeling interval drops below, light motive
4. (3:06) Lacrime In Estate - ‘Tears In The Summer’; heavy and pompous
5. (4:38) Giungla Elettrica - ‘Jungle Electric’; has groove that’s fun, toy piano sounding
6. (2:04) Lausitzer Platz - ‘Lusatian Square’; playing basketball with monsters
7. (5:11) Michelangelo - nice groove
8. (5:14) Arpeggio Due - ‘Arpeggio Two’; repetitive and bell-like simple motive
9. (1:59) Come Un Gatto - ‘Like A Cat’; simple motive, high pitched and Mid-Eastern in sound
10. (2:56) Futuro - ‘Future’; typical
11. (3:15) Ore Di Tempesta - ‘Hours of the Storm’; deep ominous sounds with pulsing straight-line percussionist sounds above
