An exquisite album from renowned banjo master, Daniel Koulak, who surrounded himself with a full jazz band to create a truly unique banjo driven bluegrass jazz hybrid. My faves: 1, 4, 5, 6, 9.

1. 4:06 slow – banjo driven “Happy Tune”
2 3:03 med – big band sound
3. 3:22 slow – jazz number
4. 3:05 slow – banjo waltz, sounds like a French carousal ride
5. 3:22 med – African sounding dance beat
6. 3:40 slow/med – trad BG banjo solo with Native American vibe
7. 3:49 distinct marimba, perfectly named
8. 3:55 meandering banjo tune with nice flute accents named after Glen Gould’s glove size
9. 3:24 Island/African dance vibe, but actually Flat Foot dance style from West Virginia
10. 2:51 instrumental lament about the sadness of the earth
11. 2:19 improvisational piece inspired by a quote about improv- “Start from silence and enter the cathedral of the soul”
