The 11th album of the Philadelphia band’s 26-year career the noisy sludge and distorted mire of these six tracks there lives a gorgeous, golden majesty. Under The Pines comprises just six songs and clocks in at a relatively pithy 40:31, although the fades that end half the tracks indicate that it could have been a lot longer. Each song has a beginning and an end, but what registers isn’t their passage but the solidity of their eternal now-ness.

Love to play: 1,5

1.Crossover (5:28) Sludgy Dinosaur Jr. guitar power with the glacial grandiosity of Black Mountain.
2.Out Of Reach (10:51) Slow pace that descends into extended progressive rock.
3.My Eyes Out (4:34) Pard pond signature track: slow, heavy, spacy, delicate and calm vocals.
4.Moment To Moment (9:43) A welcome change. The signature flute adds nother dimension to the space of the song.
5.Under The Pines (5:48) Lovely sad and beautiful.
6.Effigy (4:05) Bardo pond calm noise and full of force guitars.
