Hooten Hallers, “Hooten Hallers” Label: Big Muddy Records Reviewed by: Kim Walter, May 2017 Distinctive, gravely voice accompanied by true Americana music. A fusion of styles & influences, here Americana roots, punk rock & blues. Definite high voltage fun! Delightfully odd album art too, reminiscent of colorful and abstract comic books. Best for me: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10. 1. 4:37 med – catchy Americana tune 2. 3:15 med – bluesy Americana 3. 2:41 med – American rock with big blues influence 4. 2:22 slow/med – Blues 5. 4:33 med/fast – punk blues ***FCC*** 6. 2:55 med/fast – you can really hear uninspired punk 7. 2:26 med – mainly instrumental, sounds like vintage rock & roll 8. 4:19 slow – big blues influence 9. 5:12 slow/med – unique to album, folksy w/ harmonica 10. 3:34 slow/med – hilarious song, country tune (two step) | ||
