Group of L.A. artists with mostly Latino roots present funkadelic mixture of songs with political themes; English lyrics are a little predictable but instrumentation is interesting as are incantations in indigenous and African languages; theme is connecting all those people who've been disconnected; pays homage to indigenous roots of Latin culture

1—Espejos vs. The Gaze – 5:11 –begins with prayer in Purepecha; segues to English about not wanting your culture to be seen as objects in a marketplace; musical rant in rock format with synth flourishes

*2—Pillow People – 4:56 – starts with straight ahead Motown-- use of undocumented laborers to satisfy driven needs of western society; pretty singing interweaves dreams of immigrants with political points; catchy and sweet

3—Critical Time – 5:01 – Hammond B3 gives psychedelic vibe; vocal on “critical time” with interesting background instruments with somewhat amorphous message

4—Barrio Healer – 5:56-- Hammond B3 plus Moog give otherworldly sounds backing solo and background vocals

*5 –Olukun y Yemaya –6:16 –nice African rhythms here and melody provided by fiddle plus female vocalist singing of Yoruba deities; segues to Spanish and Latin rhythm

**6 – La Danza de Coyolxauqui—2:47 – wild dance celebrating the story of the Aztec Osiris with taiko!--all instrumental

*7- La Bamba –4:12 – sounds like the Cuban version; fun, and pretty

*8 –Get to Knowing – 6:00-- very danceable with great rhythm and hand claps

9 –Mira! --1:24 – pretty instrumental interlude that builds in intensity just before it ends

10 – Mama Nahual – 5:04-- vocal in Spanish accompanied by electronica and synths; driving rhythm

**11—La Lloroncita—7:55-- tenderly played and sung feminist revisionist version of La Llarona; beautiful guitar picking with organ flourishes and crying fiddle

12 –Ay que no que no –:50 – solo on requinto doble

13—Unbound –3:49 – heavy duty rock with vocals in English; pounding rhythm

14 – Pajaritos—1:33 – instrumental starts off light and pretty with breaths

15 –Cellular Memory—5:42—heavy rock rhythm with fender bass under English vocals

16 –Godo Alfredo--:39-- very unusual sound of instrument called a quijada

17—Toro Ayotzinapa—6:55 – song about the massacre of 43 students in Guererro in 2014; densely textured instrumentally

*18 – La Indita—3:18-- pretty back and forth song in Spanish accompanied only by marimba
