Acoustic Rainbow, “ROOTS radio volume 47, review sampler” Label: Poetman Records Reviewed by: Kim Walter, Aug 2017 As a child, I loved all things rainbow. Both my favorite shirt and my bedding were covered with rainbows. As an adult, I appreciate the subtle nuances that can only be brought out in acoustic music. So, when this sampler entitled “Acoustic Rainbow” passed my way, I was more than happy to give it a listen. And it certainly did not disappoint me! This is a genre-bending look at the world of acoustic music. This CD has something for EVERYBODY. I liked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 14, 17 1. 4:01 slow/med - upbeat Americana sound with female lead 2. 4:06 slow/med – gentle tune with piano and male singer 3. 3:11 slow/med – bluegrass style blues song 4. 4:27 slow/med - fabulous female singer in bluesy/ nightclub style number 5. 3:54 med – folk rock ballad with familiar sounding voice 6. 4:20 med/fast - country rock of the honky-tonk variety, but pretty catchy 7. 4:37 slow/med – country tune with theme of murder 8. 3:47 slow/med – anthem to West Virginia, prominent drum 9. 4:44 slow/med – bluegrass style with nice vocal harmonies 10. 2:57 med – upbeat country rock 11. 3:54 med – mellow, meandering country rock 12. 3:48 med – Americana story of heartbreak 13/ 3:49 med – voice reminds me of early Bowie 14. 2:30 slow/med – folk spiritual/ mountain gospel 15. 2:56 slow – folk, good message 16. 3:49 slow – folk, solemn sounding 17. 3:14 med – unique sounding blues 18. 4:13 med – Americana style meandering song | ||
