Travis Greene’s fourth album features collaborations with such gospel powerhouses as Jonathan McReynolds, Jonathan Butler, Israel Houghton, just to name a few. His style resembles a mixture between Wyclef and Lyfe Jennings - although gospel, he's also very neo-soul in his delivery of his potent lyrical content. This is one of the few albums of late where I actually enjoyed every track, however, my favorites on this album are: 3, 4, 10, 11, 14. No FCC violations. Reviewed by Daniel of LJH. Tracks: *1) 5:04 - Slow tempo. Synths and vocal ad-libs lead into an acoustic guitar worship song. Other instruments: drums, bass guitar, electric piano/organ *2) 5:56 - Slow tempo, then increases tempo speed to med/fast. Drums, guitars and piano, other synth sounds & bass guitar. **3) 5:58 - Slow tempo. Unplugged, stripped down intro w/acoustic guitar, snares, piano; begins to pick up speed after first verse, double-timing snares & hi-hats to give that almost marching-band-style sound. **4) 8:43 - Slow tempo. Pianos, light drums/snares, electric guitar, and what sounds like the clicks of an older clock accent the track in different sections (might be maracas). *5) 5:14 - Slow/med tempo. Neo Soul flavor, acoustic guitar, piano, synths/sine sounds, electric guitar. *6) 5:49 - Slow/med tempo. Acoustic/electric guitars, marching-band style snares *7) 4:27 - Med/slow tempo. His standard instrumentation (piano, drums, ac/el guitars). Switches to reggae-style just over a minute in, then switches between styles. 8) 4:30 - Slow tempo. Piano (unplugged style in the beginning) with an organ riff or two, muted drums (maybe just snares and hi-hats), with electric guitar in background 9) 5:29 - Slow to Med/fast tempo. Same instrumentation as before, with chimes and other synth sounds rounding out the melody ***10) 3:28 - Slow tempo. Acoustic guitar, kicks, shakers - simple instrumentation, powerful song. **11) 3:53 - Slow to Med/fast tempo. Piano(s) - intro, vocal synths, heavily panned and muted instrumentation. Acoustic guitars heavy in background. *12) 4:59 - Med/fast temp. Acoustic guitar heavy with a variety of other background sounds, organ, truncated and muted drums panned and active through the left-to-right sound spectrum. *13) 4:13 - Slow to fast (techno-style) tempo. Kick heavy, tempo-changing, after production effects range in the background. Piano carries the slower tempo parts of the verses, electric guitar the faster tempo sections. **14) 6:51 - Slow to med tempo. Piano, acoustic guitar, drums, possibly a talk-box in the background. 15) 4:30 - Med/fast tempo. Electric guitar, drums, crashes, piano. |
