Petal // Comfort: Short EP featuring somber, melancholic guitar/piano songs. Singer Kiley Lotz’s pretty voice just does this thing where it makes me feel genuinely sad. Simple song writing but the lyrics really get you. I recommend playing all, but be mindful of FCC on track #1. FCC: 1. RIYL: Mitski, Angel Olsen, Tigers Jaw, Waxahatchee.
1. Comfort (3:26) FCC: “fucking”. Muted guitar behind high toned and emotional vocals, vocals gain more energy and anger as song goes on.
2. Silver Springs (4:07) Piano ballad cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Silver Springs, definitely sadder than the original, great vocal performance, need I say more?
3. 15 (2:51) Piano in the beginning reminds me of winter, single note guitar comes in halfway and mixes in with some great vocal harmonies as the pace picks up. Fav song on the EP.
