“Bank Robber” Stockton & Post
Brother and sister, Jake and Justina Schroth, collaborate on a short, but worthwhile indie pop EP. Both raised in Northern California, Jake still lives in Berkeley, while Justina has relocated to Austin, Texas. Jake apparently plays most of the instruments on the EP: ukulele and other string instruments, piano and wind instruments — while Justina was involved in the vocals, sharing the songwriting with Jake and adding “random sounds.” RIYL: early Bishop Allen, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

1. (3:51) Bank Robber – Fun indie pop-rock. Strummed ukulele. Drums with a strong backbeat. Brass added in places. Male and female lead vocals with rich backing harmonies. Like early Bishop Allen. ****
2. (5:10) Beautiful – Piano ballad, with drums to provide energy in the choruses. Male/female lead vocals again. Strings. Bells. ****
3. (2:50) Chicken Bones – Swinging sing-along in 3/4 time. Strings, brass and plucked violin added. Playful percussion. Female lead vocals.
