The debut album from UK indie pop artist Hannah Rodgers, aka Pixx, is forlorn, agitated, and at times infectious. She sings critically of her doubt and discontent with our times. Age Of Anxiety exhibits her canny knack for masking pathos beneath gleaming pop hooks, a hallmark trait of the 4AD label roster.

Like: Cocteau Twins, Grimes, Savages, Lush, Siouxsie and the Banshees.

FCC: Clean.

Play: 1, 3, 7, 12

1.I Bow Down (3:39) - Nagging groove that sounds like it could go on forever.
2.Toes (3:31) - Dark wave with Drone-y, distorted guitars.
3.Grip (4:06) - Chirpy backing vocals evoke songbirds and gnawing thoughts.
4.Romance (3:28) - 2007-era electro-pop.
5.Telescreen (3:58) - Shimmers with echoing, chorus-laden guitars.
6.Everything Is Weird In America (3:41) - Straightforward bid for pop triumph.
7.Waterslides (3:55) - Restless pop vibes in a rush of awkward pop.
8.A Big Cloud To Float Upon (4:56) - Edgily, appealingly atmospheric.
9.Baboo (3:07) - Moody pop with Cocteau Twins vibes.
10.Your Delight (3:29) - Bauhaus-esque, gothic wonder.
11.The Girls (3:48) - Dubstar-esque touches slightly muddled.
12.Mood Ring Eyes (3:39) - Off-kilter pop, shoegaze and contemporary savvy.
