Seekers And Finders is the seventh album by the New York-based band Gogol Bordello. While the gypsy rockers continue cranking punk tempo tracks on Seekers And Finders, the sound production has become cleaner with less chaotic instrumentation and very vocal driven.
RIYL: Balkan Beat Box, Ozomatli, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Manu Chao and Antibalas.
FCC CLEAN!
Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 5, 6, 10, 11
1. (3:26) * Did It All – Upbeat gypsy punker. It has the energy of a mid 1990s alternative recording. Good intro.
2. (3:02) * Walking On The Burning Coal – Medium-up tempo. Gogol Bordello ballad. Catchy.
3. (3:36) Break Into Your Higher Self – Bordello doing their thing. Fast tempo.
4. (3:05) Seekers And Finders – Slow track. Gypsy ballad. Dramatic.
5. (5:14) * Familia Bonfirebal – Medium tempo recording. Vocal driven. Half way through song builds up intensity. Passionate performance.
6. (3:15) ** Clearvoyance – Slow tempo recording. Melody has a 1960s French pop style. Confessional.
7. (3:10) Saboteur Blues – Bordello doing their thing again. Fast tempo. Rocky.
8. (4:08) Love Gangsters – Medium-up tempo rocker. It could pass as 1990s alternative music.
9. (3:25) If I Ever Get Home Before Dark – Bordello being Bordello part III. Medium/Medium-up tempo. Gypsy pop.
10. (2:17) * You Know Who You Are (Uprooted Funk) – Bilingual political piece (English/Spanish). Medium-up tempo. Energetic. Positive message.
11. (3:15) * Still That Way – Medium tempo recording. Another slow melodic moment. Vocal melody reminds me of Midnight Oil’s “Blue Sky Mine” song. Dramatic ending.
