Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2017-12-12
Pop swamp garage– Slovenly Records yet again. Two women on drums and guitar and a “dirty swamp rat” man on vocals. Blasting out pounding beats, overdriven distorted vocs with treated female backs make this stuff truly psychotic. The greats like Pussy Galore, The Cramps through blown out amps, come to mind. Despite the name this is a rare Slovenly garage band that’s not from abroad (from MA). Play also with early Donnas 7”s, HollyGoLightly, Gutara Kyo, The Routes.

1) (2:25) slop rawk, blues tinged, total fuzzed vocals 2) (1:47) playful feeling, melody in driving beat 3)* (3:08) simple teen rock, a la Raspberries 4)* (3:17) harder, messy, mean, goes 2/4 thrashy, female presence in background vocs 5) (2:29) heavy beat, female vocals add a true level of insanity 6) (2:49) three chord feel, halting, Donnas come to mind 7)* (1:42) “at the hop” – speaking of early Donnas, shoo bop fuzzed out with girl energy 8) (1:33) driving punky, play with Gutara Kyo 9) (1:32) galloping “fun” garage punk 10) (2:24) “my war”, not a black flag cover, thrashy/dirgey, weird
