The 20th LP from Thee Oh Sees “Memory Of A Cut Off Head”. The second release under the(e) Oh Sees umbrella this year. Electronic melodies and soaring strings float weightlessly at the helm, creating an air in which everything feels dangerously off kilter. It’s eerie to the ear, melodies wisping into nothing as quickly as they appear. On this album, we’re in a field of frolicking acoustic guitars and tripped out synthesizers, which is especially apparent on opening/ title track “Memory Of A Cut Off Head”. The production on track is refreshing, allowing every instrument to breathe and intermingle, in healthy and very relaxing manner.

Like: Ty Segall, Early Destroyer albums. Recent Foxygen records. Obscure psychedelic-rock.

FCC Clean.

1.Memory of a Cut Off Head (4:47) - Trippingly sweet psych-folk.
2.Cannibal Planet (4:29) - Reminiscent of some moments of Pavement and Stephen Malkmus
3.The Remote Viewer (5:27) - Serene and carnivalesque.
4.The Baron Sleeps and Dreams (3:34) - Nice pastoral interlude concluding as an eerie noise exercise.
5.On and On Corridor (5:50) - Melding textures and baroque flourishes.
6.Neighbor to None (2:30) - Neil Halstead or Mojave 3 song on peyote.
7.The Fool (4:41) - Chilly dose of melancholy synth and strings.
8.The Chopping Block (3:14) - Sounds like the best David Bowie song you’ve never heard before.
9.Time Tuner (5:57) - Very cool synths and moaning brass sounds.
10.Lift a Finger By The Garden Path (4:27) - Psych-pop ends the album on a cheerful note.
