This band sounds like Fu Manchu. Oh wait, this is Fu Manchu. Indeed, they practically invented this sound: a pure distillation of all things rawk, from the MC5 and Stooges, to Nebula, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Mono Men, Zeni Geva, Blue Oyster Cult, dare I say The Nuge, Grand Funk. You get my drift: theres no embroidered jeans or androgynous publicity photos of these guys whimsically holding a dove in one hand in front of a stadium of adoring fans. Unless they do it with utmost irony. Some people call this “stoner rock” but it smacks of better drugs to me. As my dad used to say: “This will put hair on your chest”. I modified it to: “this will burn it off”.
Don't miss the last, epic 18 minute, jam that has Alex Lifeson (Rush) guest on it!!
1)* (3:04) head nodding rawker, dude, quintessential rawk – theres even a cowbell muthafkr! 2) (2:47) slower deeper rock beat, darker 3) (2:04) driving upbeat rocker, wha wha cry babying 4) (3:25) dissonant stoney doomy, heavy, slower, kicks in rawkin before it ends 5) (4:19) big doomy, almost creepy horror rock 6)* (2:57) big heavy slow stone again, but midway goes balls out crankin’!! 7)* (18:07) Alex Lifeson of Rush is the guest wanker!!! dont miss!! okay I admit, this is pretty stoney, simple fuzzed out guitar riffs, looong hypno track, goes through moods, phases of course, vocals don’t appear til well in, pretty epic, with riff smacking of Hendrix even
