Reviewed: 2018-03-07 Genre: General (X) FCCs: none Review: this band would not be out of place in the Star Wars cantina. Some of it does sound like a soundcheck. Overall a sonic experience If You Like: early Pink Floyd, Eno, Xenakis Track Review (favorites denoted by *): 1. Our New Music (04:03) - hummingbird flitting, then hovering> fade 2. Big Time Nature Bros (04:10) - guitar notes build in volume abrasively like an army descending in a wave down a hill & engaging in combat *3. Eulogy (05:01) - heavy drone that gains in volume & complexity, like the soundtrack to an underwater monster movie *4. Books That May Be Worth Selling (05:21) – keening high drone morphs into loud low drone like a spaceship cruising through the universe> fade 5. Tan Lines (05:08) - low hesitating vibration> sonic waves of sound crashing> long slow rumbling> fade 6. Cook Out Stomach (04:32) – abrasive crashing intermittent notes> hesitating plucked banjo> sonic off-kilter electronic noise jam, like a band tuning up for a soundcheck> fade 7. Kombucha Entrepreneurs (04:19) – more electronic noise tune-up morphs into sonic waves of crashing noise> quick stop * 8. High Falls I (01:02) – heavy percussive beats morphs into rolling thunder with sporadic water drops * 9. Siri, What’s The Time In Durham (03:59) – high drone interspersed with higher shimmery notes, like icicles falling on glass> morphs into sonic vibrating waves> total distortion to fade 10. High Falls II (01:16) – overheard quiet spoken words with distortion> fade *11. Hush (04:15) – distorted guitar morphs into slow vibrating ambient drone noise> grows in volume> fade 12. High Falls III (01:30) – heavy rumble like thunder> fade *13. Earth Tones For Bruce (07:46) – spoken word> guitar tune-up> drone jam with guitar> ambient drone grows in volume fade |
