Dramatic heavy/light music, elements of dark goth and doom metal but you can’t hear it. This release focuses on the song, with violin melodies playing a large role. Vocals are deep male, not as deep as Gira/Swans, piano, lightness, beauty: evocative of such things for sure: Swans, Angels of Light, Nick Cave, Dirty Three. High drama. 1-3 are basically one song, can be played together and 5-6 blend nicely. Long tracks.

Written after confronting the dual tragedies of the death of a loved one and the exhaustive experience of caring for another family member with chronic illness, JR Robinson explains: "[Decent Into Blindness] is my impression of dealing with sickness, hospitalisation, being helpless and the loneliness of being able to communicate with others."

1) (9:38) songlike, folk element, male vocs are featured, dark yet pretty, drums appear midway, chill 2) (4:28) cones out of previous, violin takes lead, still plods on darkly until about 90 secs left things explode basically. 3) (7:46) chills out coming out of previous, builds creepily, very Swans, a blood curdling scream even. 4) (3:55) nick cave delivery, violin reminiscent of dirty three, chill 5)* (14:16) quiet pretty start, violin and vocs, midway low rumbling drums and a subltle sax and noises build foreshadowing a coming storm. 6) (7:00) comes out of previous, quiet, builds to a slow mindful ride cymbal beat with lovely piano, outro with children’s choir brief, a masterpiece.
