Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2018-05-30
Local dream psych band that spearheaded the wave 10 years ago picks up where they left off with new kraut rock infused echoey whispery balms of rock. What makes this band (and spin off Moon Duo) are the hip grinding beats: I concluded years ago that they really are a dance band when it all comes down. Cool organ, tambourines, and fuzzy guitars, wah wah’ed. A sax is introduced in this furthering comparisons to Can. See also locals Lumerians. Delving also into psych pop sentiments of Prefab Messiahs.

1)* (6:23) cool laid back kraut groove, sax appears late, subtle 2) (5:37) swingy sorta doomy bass heavy tone. 3) (5:13) cheery tone to this, floaty and dream poppy, backwards guitar and organ smacks of old Pink Floyd or even Beatles 4) (4:21) guitar strummy, very Prefab Messiahs, upbeat 5) (7:28) sexy upbeat accessible poppy really in its simplicity. 6) (6:03) head nodding rock beat, heavy on the 2 and 4 beat 7) (7:15) slow mindful with Floyd organ, ballady almost
