AMBIENT / CINEMATIC / WESTERN TINGED

SUSS is a NYC-based quartet. There’s not much info either online or in the package. The music is “ambient” or perhaps “atmospheric,” but it’s not electronica. It’s mainly made with traditional instruments, although of course there is some electronics in it as well. The sonic “feel” is definitely movie-soundtrack and often Western. The track titles suggest the same.

Instrumental (except #6). No FCC issues.

1 * Very slow. Gentle elec guitar; tons of whammy bar. A whistle. Eerie. (5:41)
2 Very slow. More electronic. Picked guitar arpeggio. Same whistle. Tense; anxious. (4:46)
3 ** Very slow. A Theremin perhaps. And guitar strums. More melodic. Compelling. (5:31)
4 Very slow, minimal. Undistinguished sounds. Some guitar. Synth toward the end. (4:11)
5 * Very slow. (Not “Streets of…”) Sounds, elec guitar, keys. Gathers a bit of pace. (4:21)
6 ** Very slow. Theremin or synth. Hard to make out spoken words. Scary as hell. (4:39)
7 Very slow. Odd electronic sounds, then a return to theme of track #1. Steel guitar? (5:59)
