Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2018-07-24
Synth creations by Canadian artist that harken back to the analog greatness of Tomita, Jarre, and the later polyphonic synths of Eno and later 80’s atmospheric tones used by the greats like New Order, Cab Voltaire, early Echo and Ultravox. Simple synth beats, a la Casio, Roland 505 put through effects banks. Not noisey, but not blissout either. Bordering on electro. Warrants a “D/X” but also is squarely in General.

1) (2:44) planetarium space ambience 2) (6:46) pensive somewhat blippy percussive rhythmic ambience 3) (3:55) old school 80’s synth feel, slow mindful downtempo with casio type simple beat, lush polyphonic synths 4)* (6:52) old school analog blippy spacey loops, then low drones and eventually a downtempo deep beat appears, a plod , turns very disjunct 5)* (3:00) simply echoey beat fades in with dark distant atmospherics, nice 6)* (8:04) pensive and rhythmic, mildly melodic, complex, builds in intensity, excellent 7) (2:33) church in hell like sonic organ, echoing off cavernous walls
