Although she has many contemporaries and admirers in the country music field (Billy strings, Lucinda Williams) her sound is really more Indie/Folk rock. Interestingly, LW calls her the “folk Nina Simone”. while all the songs here are great as stand alone songs, after 3 or 4 they sound very much alike. But the focus always stays on her voice, so that’s okay. Best for me: 2,6,9
1.Med - 2:51 - Meandering, gentle, but upbeat, folk rock
2.**Slow - 3:12 - emphasis on vocals, title track
3.Slow/Med - 2:57 - Interesting beat, gentle girl pop
4.Slow/Med - 2:46 - Love song, nice
5.Med - 2:59 - Repetitive pop song saved by Ana’s ethereal voice
6.**Slow - 3:32 - Beautiful vocal harmonies with Alec Spiegelman
7.Slow - 4:16 - Just regular gentle rock with some country instrumentation
8.Slow/Med - 2:55 - Again, beautiful voice, gentle tunes
9.Slow - 4:23 - Only “country” song - cover of John Hartford’s “In tall buildings”
10.**Slow/Med - 1:55 - Ana’s beautiful voice
