John Fahey and Leo Kotke are obvious references to this solo artist who incorporates finger picking on acoustic guitars, banjos, with synth and drone, noise, loops. Abstract and hypnotic stuff, altogether beautiful. Tracks at start are more accessible as the CD devolves into more distant trippiness as it progresses. A KZSU fave, stalwart. See also stuff like Barn Owl, Even Caminiti, newer Earth. From Brisbane, Australia. Guh…..) 1) (3:51) chiming piano, banjo, stringlike organ, fades to balmy loops 2)* (6:20) analog synth loops and drone to start, then pleasant guitar picking, mindful mindless, picks up in places a la Kotke 3)* (5:50) low drop tuned drone and finger picking, nice 4) (2:18) minimal banjo with cool synth, hillbillies on mushrooms in an alpine meadow 5) (2:02) minimalist space guitar 6)* (4:42) distant treated chiming guitar tones, trippy and hypnotic 7)* (3:30) looping banjo to start but quickly very trippy synth tones throw a blanket on it, dissolve, the banjo fights back 8)* (4:41) drop dead gorgeous shimmering spaciness, sans obvious instruments, until last minute where guitar returns and trumpet appears | ||
