SoCal based outsider music, bluesy, burlesque, strange yet insightful lyrics. Low fi recording and performance, sloppy in all the right places. For fans of Marvin Pontiac, Daniel Johnston, Tom Waits, Bob Log III. Outsider artists like Jet Lady (Tangela Tricoli), Wesley Willis, John Trubee’s “blind mans penis”, song poems as well. Great stuff, all FCC clean.
1) (2:32) sloppy weird swingy blues, slide guitar, drums etc 2) (2:56) simple 3 chord song, acoustic guitar centered 3) (3:22) 12 bar silliness with a strange little casio type organ trupet tone, like one of those cheap things my parents had in the late 60’s 4)** (3:57) “the dog dance”, about dog business being a dance, the chorus is “bow wow” – this song is epic (I know Ive heard this before….?), play with Marvin Pontiac’s “I’m a Dog” 5) (1:38) goofy old western bar room piano feel, fun stuff with just piano and bass, King Missle’esque spoken word, brief 6) (2:52) upbeat train chugga chugga beat, with gospel overtones “praise jesus” 7)* (3:45) 12 bar walking blues bass, silly organ, “those big blue eyes”, saxophone appears 8)** (2:46) someone had to use a duck call as a lead instrument, and its fitting its over a 12 bar silly piano and bass accompaniment 9)** (5:20) a revisit of the Dog Dance song above, but more just about being a big dog marking his territory instead of turning it into a dance, a little lewd like dogs are by nature, “bow wow, bow wow”, organ gets a lead and launches into a silly scat jazz for a second
