Have Mercy is an EP, more like a mini-LP, by Austin, Texas singer-songwriter Paul Cauthen. Contemporary Americana with a feeling for early 1980s country releases a la Willie Nelson or Conway Twitty. Great vocals, interesting instrumentation.

Something else from the press release:
“The Tyler native sound like the Highwaymen all rolled into one: he’s got Willies’ phrasing, Johnny’s haggard quiver, Kristofferson’s knack for storytelling and Waylon’s baritone.” Texas Monthly

RIYL: Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price, Cody Jinks, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals and The Texas Gentlemen.

1. (3:06) *Everybody Walkin’ This Land – Slow tempo. Political piece. Dense.
2. (3:41) *Resignation – Medium-up tempo. Feels early 1970s country pop. Funky country piece.
3. (4:04) **Have Mercy – slow/medium tempo. The closest to the Highwaymen that you could get.
4. (4:08) *Lil Son – Slow/medium tempo. Early 1980s country here.
5. (4:08) My Cadillac – Medium tempo. Country funk. Colorful.
6. (4:26) Tumbleweed – Slow/medium tempo. Another good example of early 1980s country.
7. (3:13) ***In Love With A Fool – Medium tempo. Solid late 20th century retro country ballad. My favorite track on the record.
