Album Review

Collaboration among three celebrated artists – Roy Rogers, blues slide guitarist and producer, Badi Assad, Brazilian guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, and Carlos Reyes, pre-eminent Bay area Paraguayan harpist. (a different instrument altogether from pedal harp and Celtic harp). Sound kind of wraps around you with its lushness.

No FCC's; Favorite tracks: 5, 7, 8

1—Blues for Brazil– 3:07-- mellow, with a groove, all hands on deck including some vocalization

2- Still Livin' in A Memory –4:06 – female vocals along with some lacy harp glissandos; very light and evocative

3—Between Truth and Luck – 3:12 – Assad vocal with percussion and backup chorus; mellow sound tapestry

4—God Prayed It –4:07-- vocals with fair amount of harp

*5—Back to Havana –3:38 – rhythm picks up here, instrumental with slide guitar leading the way; nice violin too from Reyes

6—Back Along the Way –3:37 –vocals; pretty and low key; a little dreamy

**7—Desires –5:30-- beautiful Paraguayan harp! And bird sounds!

*8—Lost Again in You –4:19 – starts out with jazzy little staccato riffs; male vocal (Roy Rogers); auditory pointillist

9-- Wounds of Sight—3:45-- Assad vocal; chord progression reminiscent of fifties ballad; prettily done

10—Love Broken—4:23-- Rogers and Assad trade-off lines; nice cross-instrumental bridge
