Love Cannon, “Cover Story” Label: Organic Records Reviewed by: Kim Walter, November 2018 This is an album of covers of songs from “music’s greatest decade,” which, according to Love Cannon, is the eighties. They breathe new life into 80’s hits by turning them into bluegrass tunes. Bluegrass Today says, “mainstream grassers really should take a listen… Nothing about their music is a joke.” Honestly, I was surprised it was so good. Best for me: all of them especially 8 and 9 2:22 - Billy Joel’s prelude to “Angry Young Man”, instrumental 5:01 - Fun version of Howard Jones “Things can only get better” 4:13 - “Kyrie Eleison”, Mr. Mister’s hit of 1985 5:56 - Very BG sounding version of Paul Simon’s “Graceland” 4;04 - Very recognizable song with BG accents 5:09 - BG style cover of “Depeche Mode”, nice! 5:29 - Good version of often covered song, true to original 5:21 - ** Excellent version of Squeeze’s “Tempted” 6:37 - ** REM done BG style! | ||
