Light from another light is an entrancing instrumental set of experimental recordings done by the Oakland duo, Voicehandler - Jacob Felix Heule on drums and Danishta Rivero on voice and electronics. Minimal and persuasive journeys into the land of noise rock.
Something else from the press release:
Light from another light is a collection of improvised pieces representative of Voicehandler's live sets from the past couple years. The instrumentation differs from their previous album with Rivero making extensive use of modular electronics, and Heule expanding to a full drum kit.
The performance is loose and exploratory, and at various times energetic and meditative. Rivero’s voice embraces noise, with the lines blurred between electronic processing and extended vocal techniques. Heule’s drumming maintains its typical timbre within the context of driving percussive intensity.
RIYL: Las Sucias, Solo Organ and Burmese.
FCC CLEAN!
Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 3
1. **June 8 (14:48) – Incoherent vocals, agitated electronic sounds, slow-fast drumming tension. Some quiet breaks here and there. White noise ending.
2. * June 1 (10:28) – Ambient piece. Mellow and peaceful.
3. *** May 25 (17:24) – The most intricate composition. Lots of ups and downs with the tempo and the distortions. Analogue and machine sounds coexisting.
