In his 6th release Texas native Hayes Carll plumbs the depths of the national psyche with the wit and craft of a great southern novelist. From None'ya with its 'paint the ceiling purple..because it keeps out the evil spirits', to Fragile Men with 'the whole world is exploding..they all want you to change', the album is as interesting for his wry observance of contemporary America as it is for its expert musicianship. Musically he and the band are equally adept doing poignant bluegrass as they are hammering out Jerry Lee Lewis inspired RnR.
