Mr. Bones

Looking for a truly unique mash-up of synth, hip-hop, americana and R&B? Give Ms. Gordon a spin. In Pure, she takes a break from working with the likes of likes of Beyonce and J Lo to create an emotional release the explores her tumultuous youth raising her siblings due to an absent father and a religious zealot mother. Sonically it is an enchanting mix of R&B, hip-hop and ‘black indie’ that is powered by driving bass lines and soaring synths. The piece de resistance though is her captivating voice and glass shattering high notes. Give her a spin and be sure to turn the volume up to 11.

RIYL: Minnie Ripperton, Grace Jones, Tracy Chapman

*1 Wolverine - upbeat pop and hip-hop mix about escaping her improvised youth
*2 Thank You - celebrates her father's rejection because made her such a strong women in a Brooklyn with enchanting use of synth & percussion
*3 Kool Aid – reaching out to her siblings (one was missing & homeless for 16 years)
4 Moment to Myself - down-tempo tune about needing some space
5 Too Young – slow, haunting tune about her parent’s mistaken romance

* Mr. Bones especially likes these
