Originals

Originals is the most recent posthumous collection of previously unreleased material by legendary American singer, musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, sound engineer, producer, actor, and dancer known as Prince. Originals includes all of Prince’s compositions he wrote for other artists and collaborators - mostly from the 1980s, performed and interpreted by him, with members of his then band The Revolution and other musicians of his then circuit. Considering the quality control Prince had over all his recordings, these are far from simple home recordings; they are fully fleshed out tracks almost resembling the versions that later became hits. Originals is an album featuring Prince’s previously unreleased (demo) versions of songs he wrote between 1981 and 1985 (plus one outlier from 1991) for his side projects and/or donated to protégées and other artists. The theme of this album was sparked by the discovery of his demo of Nothing Compares 2 U, released one year before.
