From Spain: Heavy overtones of rockabilly but heavy on the horror surf, with garage, new wave punk, and even a cumbia song tossed about. All en espanol. Fun bar rock in most moments and bad ass surf psych in others. Play with new/old X record, Guitar Wolf, the other usual suspects. All tracks great or just jump straight to #11. YET ANOTHER gem from Dirty Water Records 1) (2:40) twangy reverby 2) (1:29) bouncy and fun 3) (2:44) this has a cumbia backbeat going on in this, with minor chords, “Cumbia of the Dead”, in time for halloween 4)(2:32) sax and boogie turns this rockabilly 5) (2:13) 12 bar based rock 6) (2:31) driving fun rock 7) (2:43) sax reappears giving it an old time 50 rock, 12 bar boogie form 8) (3:03) very swing rockabilly with the sax, finger snaps and other hep cat clichés 9)* (2:52) bounciness continues, cool shift into a driving beat with strange cool synth noises toward end 10) (2:50) bar room piano to this rock’n’roll traditional feel 11)* (4:40) some cool radio type samples in spanish at first, dark reflective tone to this with heavier horror surf (12 bar) feel, picks up full on spy surf instrumental, FALSE ENDING at ~45 sec remaining, sparse noises, cool but not especially radio friendly so pot down | ||
